Not yet ready for full-on CrossFit classes?
The overall purpose of our CrossFit Fundamentals program is to provide the members with the skills and knowledge necessary for attending the regular group classes in a safe and effective way.
Class is where you can challenge yourself in a group atmosphere, play games, and strengthen your knowledge of human performance, nutrition and health. This is where you find out what you are capable of and how hard you can push yourself. We are going to be hammering technique—both to ensure your safety—and success at the next level. We will introduce you to technique and mechanics first, and then intensity, and volume last. We will be showing you movements that begin with the relatively non-technical and progressively into more technical.
The CrossFit Fundamentals classes are a place where you will set baselines for weightlifting movements, learn your movement deficiencies and understand how to scale. CrossFit offers an infinite number of workouts and hundreds of movements to learn so don’t worry if it all feels overwhelming, we do not expect you to learn everything in one month. However, it’s important that you are here for each of the 8 skill sessions as these movements build on one another. There will be a workout at the end of each session, which will get progressively more challenging as the course progresses.
Again, the goal of this program is to learn the movements, focus on technique, and build cardiovascular endurance to allow for progression of strength and workout intensity. The movements utilized will build basic strength, coordination, and improve stamina. The workouts will consist of learning a new Skill, reviewing skills from prior workouts, and then performing a workout of the day, or “WOD.”
There will be 8 skill sessions that repeat once per month so if you miss a class you can always make it up.
